James Harlow

“Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”

The eldest son of the Harlow family, James Harlow can be described as charismatic to say the least. His personality is bright and outgoing, even to complete strangers. A compassionate and empathetic heart is one of the reasons that make him a very reliable person for one to turn to for comfort in times of distress. he won't always know what to say during delicate situations, but that doesn't mean he won't try his best to be there for you. If nothing else, he will never fail to offer a ear willing to listen and a shoulder for one to cry on when needed. Very emotionally sensitive, when he cares for a person he cares deeply and with all his heart, meaning that if you gain him as a friend or even something more, you will truly be lucky to have such a selfless soul on your side.

Mature and responsible in both his career as an intelligent and cunning business man and in his personal life, James has a lot of experience being a mentor and responsible caretaker starting from his teen years. When he was nine years old, his mother left his abusive father and she became a single mother to James and his younger brother, Gerald. As James grew older he naturally fell into the role of a guiding father figure to his rather difficult and unruly little brother, and to this day James still carries that responsibility and will always have his eye on Gerald's well being and look after him no matter what, despite Gerald's stubborn insistence that he doesn't need it sometimes.

Despite his maturity, when it comes to the matter of his emotions James is rather immature and is often lacking in the knowledge of how to handle himself. When the weight of his own insecurities and thoughts become too much for him to bear, he quickly starts to slide into either a state of depression or mania, sometimes switching between the two states on the turn of a dime, which only adds to the intensity of his confusing and head spinning breakdowns. Add a rather a brutal temper that he unfortunately inherited from his father on top of it all, it becomes quite clear that it would take an exceptionally patient and strong person to be able to fully handle James on his worst days.

Given the man he is today, if you had met James at the start of his college years at University Of California Berkeley, you would've encountered a vastly different person. A true extrovert, you could always find him bringing a sense of life to the social gatherings or parties he frequented often. Or if he wasn't in class pursuing a degree in Business Management, there was a good chance he was either participating in a baseball game or practicing for one, as a team player of the California Golden Bears, the official team of UOC Berkeley. Another place he might've been was spending some quality time at his grandfather's home, the garage specifically as the two worked on completely restoring one of James' most prized possession, a 1967 classic Camaro. James certainly lived life to the fullest, enjoying every opportunity that came his way and seizing every moment with his signature jovial smile on his face along the way.

With time, those opportunities started to sour and slip away though as unfortunate events fell on James. A very unexpected and traumatic break-up with his girlfriend, his first and only real love so far and an injury that caused him to not be able to pursue his passion of baseball any longer were the beginning of the circumstances that caused him to start to lose his way. By the time James graduated with his bachelor's degree, he was not the same person who intially enrolled in the university four years prior. Rather than being out partying, he is now content to spend a quiet night in watching a movie or playing video games, or having a deep and intellectually stimulating conversation with someone willing to chat with him.

All in all, James Harlow is true to his namesake as being an unforgettable personality in one way or another, and if you get the opportunity to get to know him it's most certainly guaranteed that you won't regret spending time with him.
